REAL Guitar Based Music Title Announced! (Finally...)

If you are one of the many gamers that yearns for a music based game that includes a realistic guitar, there's some good news for you.  USA Today reports that unknown developer Seven45 Studios has announced the first music based video game to use a guitar peripheral that includes strings and frets.  The game which has been named “Power Gig: Rise of the Sixstring” will be released at the end of this year for the Xbox 360 and PS3.  Power Gig will also feature drums and vocals because everyone knows you can’t have a music game without some idiot playing drums and your annoying friend singing (that’s usually me).  The pricing for the game and instruments is unknown at this time.

Games You Should Play: Hollywood Mogul 3

E-mail Print PDF

Hollywood MogulYou know the sort of game that keeps you addicted for months on end even though said game annoys you no end?

You know the sort of game that keeps you coming back for more even when you've said after a 3 hour session that you've had enough?

That's Hollywood Mogul 3.

Hollywood Mogul 3 is, as you may imagine, a game in which you run your own Hollywood Studio. You pick the film, you pick the actors and you pick the budget.

Then you cross your fingers and hope you make a profit.

Gee Whizz - Plight of Retail Stores

E-mail Print PDF

Electronics_Boutique_-_Store_4565_10-13-09There was time when my young self would walk into Electronics Boutique (EB games to you younglings), see walls of shiny new games and be as excited as a duck on the first Tuesday in April.  I rarely bought new games, but I shuffled around the store picking up boxes and staring intently at the blurb on the back.  Then my mother would tell me it was time to go.

Now I can’t walk into GAME without being angered by the games on show, the people buying them or the ‘Radio GAME Live!’ solely advertising Wii shovelware their kids nag their parents to buy.

Is my view just clouded by nostalgia goggles?  Perhaps.  Though I do think the spirit of retail game stores has died, with fans moving to online shopping, even though stores are still making high profits.

This Week on Nonsense Gamer!

E-mail Print PDF
As usual, we've got a good week planned for you. In an ideal world, those interview questions from Visceral would have been returned already for your greedy little eyes to digest. However, being that the world we live in is far from ideal, we might have those back for you this week. Who knew that when a company finishes work on a game, they go on vacation and don't feel like answering questions right away? But they deserve the time off, so we'll get those up on the site just as soon as they are available.

We've got your columns coming up this week (a dynamite I-Play just hit the site yesterday. Check that one out!) with Gee Whizz, L33t Speak, and more from your favorite NonsenseGamer staff members. In addition to that, we'll hopefully have some new blood joining the site soon! If you're interested in a position with Nonsense Gamer, head over to the jobs page and check that out.

At the end of the week, we're planning (if all goes well in the world of technical equipment) on having your first NonsenseGamer Podcast ready for your listening pleasure. This one will be a Heavy Rain discussion, and will be full of spoilers, so you may want to avoid that one if you are going to play the game at some point.

Enjoy the week ahead!
